Game Recap: Knights edge Titans in last inning

First Inning

Danny Kirwin started on the mound for the Knights, striking out one batter.

Joseph Loynd was the lone batter to reach base for the Titans.

Brock Viet was the starting pitcher for CB South.

Jake Drelick hit an infield single.

 

Second Inning

Ben Gruber singled for the Titans.

Danny Kirwin struck out his second batter of the afternoon.

Ryan Bealer had the only hit of the inning for North Penn, reaching first on a fielder’s choice.

 

Third Inning

Danny Kirwin started to get into a groove, retiring all three batters he faced in the top half of the third.

Tyler Siddal walked, and Jake Drelick followed him up with a single.

Key Moment: Billy Collins hit a bases clearing double to give the Knights a 2-0 lead.

 

Fourth Inning

Atlee Hasson chased down a long fly for the first out of the inning.

Rob Weiss made a diving grab at second base.

Ryan Bealer walked.

Hunter Hamlin reached first on a bobbled catch at first base.

 

Fifth Inning

Danny Kirwin struck out Zach Steinberg, retiring the only 3 batters he saw in the frame for the second time that afternoon

Zack Miles singled, being the only North Penn batter to reach base in the fifth

 

Sixth Inning

Joseph Loynd walked

Conor McKeown singled, and John McSweeney loaded the bases after he reached first base on a bobbled catch at first base

Mason Blankenburg came in to relieve Danny Kirwin with no outs in the sixth inning

Blankenburg forced CB South’s Ben Gruber to hit into a double play, but Joseph Loynd scored, and the Titans got on the board, down only 2-1.

Key Moment: South’s Jake Trachtenburg hit a single to right field to tie the game at 2.

Blankenburg attempted to pick off Trachtenburg at first base, and ended up getting the final out of the sixth after Trachtenburg got caught in a jam between first and second base.

 

Seventh Inning

Atlee Hasson caught a flyball in the outfield for North Penn’s first out of the seventh inning

Key Moment: Ryan Bealer made a great diving catch in left field to help the Knights get out of the seventh inning.

Tyler Siddal started off the Knights portion of the inning with a perfect bunt down the third baseline. Siddal then stole second on a wild pitch.

Key Moment: Jake Drelick laid down another perfect bunt, moving Siddal to third base, and Siddal would eventually score the game-winning run on an overthrow at third base, giving the Knights a thrilling 3-2 victory.
