Maidens spiked in home opener

TOWAMENCIN – It’s not how you start the game, but rather how you finish it, and North Penn Girls’ Volleyball team (0-2) learned a painful lesson in its 3-1 (25-21, 12-25, 23-25, 18-25) loss to CB South.

“It’s the attitude,” commented Coach Kevin Eck. “The last few years have been very tough, and we are trying to change the ways they will play. Their attitude [now]  is very good and I am pleased about that.”

The Maidens went on an offensive fury the start the game, taking a commanding 21-8 lead before finishing the first period 25-21. After that the Maidens  were a step behind CB South. The heartbreaking third period loss where North Penn saw its lead diminish in their grasp put them behind 2-1.

“We have been very inconsistent,” said senior Georgi Eck, “and even though the score was close, we are not going to come out as winners if we continue to be like that.”

While they have started the season 0-2, the team was full of energy. After every play the players would huddle up and never seemed to lose that competitive edge.

“It doesn’t matter what the score is,” said Coach Eck, “as long as we keep our head high continue to improve, we will eventually see success.
The Girls’ Volleyball team will travel to CB Easy on Thursday, 9/10, as they seek their first win of the season.
