The Towson Tigers pride themselves as being the largest comprehensive college in the Baltimore area. This 328 acre campus holds many options with 65 undergraduate programs, 19 sports to watch or participate in, and over 13 eating places including 4 dining halls.
Towson even though a bigger university the estimated tuition out of state is $19,754 but combined with the room and board of $10,338 does leave a daunting obstacle, but these days picking colleges comes down to choosing a certain array of debt. However the residences are better than the typical college dorm with barely enough space for a bed. There are a few different options in places to live on campus such as actual dorms or in apartments. Each floor of the dorms has a common room with a kitchen, different quads breaching off with approximately five rooms with two roommates in each, and a bathroom in each quad. Inside the spacious rooms are two top bunk beds with a desk underneath, a window, and enough space for a refrigerator.
The campus itself is a sprawling concrete realm; within there is a combination of glass filled modern buildings, historic landmarks, and what makes the university grounds special the random spots for students to hang out. In the center of the university is a cozy nook with chalk boards and huge benches is freedom square. This is a common place for many to gather and answer the question of the week on the chalk boards also in view of freedom circle, a platform on which many bands preform. Also there are many small walk in gardens and relaxing spots of grass and trees for students sit on.
The location of the university offers a lot in entertainment and activities. An easy eight mile bus ride away, Baltimore is one of the assets of living at Towson. From the main center of the city, the harbor, aquarium, Hard Rock Café, various concert locations and night life – Baltimore holds something for everyone.
Towson is a university buzzing with diversity; with a whole resident building full of students from other countries. Towson’s first priority is their students; just part of Towson’s mission statement: “The Towson University experience expects students to be academically, civically and socially engaged through exciting and challenging endeavors.”
