Following the thoughtless and somewhat comical AI generated social media post President Donald Trump posted last week, criticizing the no kings protest, many were left with the question: Does artificial intelligence, or AI, actually have a place in modern politics? AI currently does have many different uses in politics, some beneficial and positive while some just seem pointless and unnecessary. Although I think it is more than fair to say the benefits outweigh the negatives by a landslide.
Lobbyists and Campaign managers use AI for various purposes and almost all purposes aim to just make their jobs quicker and more efficient. AI is used by campaign managers to specifically target certain audiences when creating advertisements for their campaign. The AI will decide which TV channels to put commercials on and what websites to post graphics. Another use would simply be as a management tool lobbyists and campaign managers do use AI to manage their social media and campaign accounts, the AI will edit posts and manage following among other things.
AI has just a few more beneficial uses. AI can be used to translate speeches so that when a state, national, or world leader gives a speech it can be heard around the world with just one click of a button. AI also allows for simple and quick data collection and grouping. When a survey is given on state and federal level millions of responses come in and with one simple AI manager all those responses can be assessed and grouped in minutes, this saves days of time and allows for the more important work to be prioritized.
While AI can be used to create propaganda and useless information, the positives heavily outweigh that. Frankly in today’s world if a person cannot tell the difference between AI and a real video it is shocking and that person probably needs to become more aware. Also if we know something is not real we can actually kind of laugh at it and accept it as entertainment, not as fact.
Overall AI deserves its place in modern United States politics and should be accepted more from everybody around the world. AI is one of the greatest resources that we have ever seen and we should embrace its value wherever we can.

I like how Aidan expresses positive goals and things that AI can do within the government, and it should implement things like commercials.

I love this article, I did not know that campaign managers used AI as I honestly don’t pay attention to that. I mostly see the AI pictures that the white house puts out and not the beneficial uses. Thank you for showing that side
