Well it was better than the first one, but not the last

It was a relief to see that the child’s play of the last debate was mostly gone this time. Each candidate carried themselves very well and didn’t speak out of turn. It was what we as Americans expected it to look like. Some might say it was undoubtedly better than the first debate, but was it better than the last one?

No, it wasn’t. It might have been equal in the fact that they resisted the urge to butt in, but what they did poorly in was the content.

I’ll start off with President Trump. The main issue I had with him was when he was asked about his taxes, and he responded with “I pre-paid my taxes.” Then, the Moderator asked “Why haven’t they been released?” and Trump responded with “soon.” What kind of answer is that? I believe that that answer is too vague and that if he wants to clear up that he did pay the tens of millions of dollars he was expected to, why couldn’t he release them? It just makes his situation much worse.

Now onto former Vice President Biden. There were so many things wrong with his answers. The first point is when Trump called him out for calling him racist, and when the moderator gave him an opportunity to give a rebuttal, Biden said “no.” While this wasn’t the most defining moment in the debate, it is an example of our candidates not having proper rebuttals. Not only that, he needs to get his intentions in line. Only 1 year ago, he and Harris said that they wanted to ban coal and fracking. And a few months ago, they denounced that they even said that they would ban fracking. What I want in a president is someone who sticks to what they say.

This wasn’t the case for the Vice Presidential debate. Both Pence and Harris had great rebuttals for the issues that they were given.

The Vice-presidential debate reigns supreme over the two presidential debates. It was both the delivery and the content that made me like this one the most. The first one was pure chaos and the second one was great on delivery but was shaky with the candidate’s content. I hope these three debates can serve as an example to future candidates for the most prestigious office in America that we have the potential to be better than this.
