Knightwich or Nightmare?

As North Penn students returned from winter break, they were welcomed by a cool new spin on a classic cookie corner treat. The Knightwich was introduced earlier this January and brought back the days of the infamous creamy. This time, however, it is frozen.

The Knightwich offers students a choice of their own cookie and typically vanilla ice cream. There is no doubt the combination of cookies and ice cream would be popular among students but what is it doing to their health?

Last week, just about everyone at my lunch table decided to take the risk of eating a Knightwich and the regret immediately sunk in. Most felt disappointment in themselves for eating the whole thing while others simply felt the physical pain of eating a day’s worth of sugar in one sandwich.  I myself enjoyed the Knightwich but I am a little biased because I love stomach aches.

North Penn’s newest creation certainly has gotten attention, some find it delicious and others are disgusted but there has certainly been an increase in the number of kids waiting in line at the cookie corner. The fact that the cafeteria found themselves out of the knightwiches for a week certainly proves that kids were not turning away from the sugar sandwich.

The new Knightwich is certainly a satisfying desert but with all of North Penn’s strides for a healthier lunch, the latest addition can certainly be labeled as questionable. However, with so many knights and maidens enjoying the treat, I doubt that we will be seeing the discontinuation of this anytime soon.

However, with North Penn’s strides toward healthier options at lunch, the knightwich’s place on North Penn’s lunch menu can be considered questionable.

I think people need to stop with the unhealthy comments, Unhleathy food is going to be wherever you go. Rather than wasting your time saying this is unhealthy and this is unhealthy, they should instead teach discipline in mangaing what we eat, how much we eat, and undergoing many hours of exercise.

I think that the knightwitch is an excellent addition the menu at the cookie corner. Although the line may a little bit longer and the the sandwitch may be the tinniest bit unhealthy, the cookie was delicious. I see peope buying them all the time and it must be very profitable.

I agree with Brooke. Even though it may be good, it is certainly unhealty and should be sold on certain days. Maybe twice a week.

Personally, I am not a fan of the Knightwich. As a career study student for the FCS department, I’m well aware of the dangers of not only the Knightwich, but all of the food that is served by the cafeteria. If this ice cream sandwich continues to be sold, it should be sold on only certain days to avoid the nutritional disaster that is the Knightwich.

I have yet to try one but they look delicious. And es they may be unhelthy, but students should learn to be able to make their own decisions.

I would just like to say that with North Penn’s strides toward healthier options at lunch, the knightwich’s place on North Penn’s lunch menu can be considered questionable.

I agree that the Knightwich is a good idea and the fact that it is a little unhealthy. Though the fact is we are still willing to buy them even with people commenting on how bad they are for your health. The cafeteria does make healthy items but sometimes it’s a good idea to spoil yourself on something you don’t get to try everyday.

I think the Knightwich was a good Idea in the sense that many students are willing to wait in that ridiculously long line just to get one. But it also was a bad idea. The delectible treat has hundreds of calories, which is taking a tole on student’s body. Im a little confused, I thought the caferteria was trying to get healthier but after introducing this, they took a step backwards.

i love the sandwhich although sometimes the cookies are way to frozen, i personally think that if the cookie was a tad bit softer i would enjoy it a whole lot more

Im with Mitch, it is definitely the equivalent of a creamie except 10x more troublesome. However, i hate the name. hahaha i actually think a better suiting name might have been “the Knightmare.” its a very delectable treat, but it does cause probs and the name is awkward. haha

The knightwich confuses me. i honestly don’t understand the rational behind nixing the creamie and instead instituting a fatter, grosser treat that has ice cream in it. i can’t say that im a fan of the pain felt after eating a knightwich but i must say that it is quite dleicious. for those that don’t want to be uncomfortably stuffed and bloated afterwards i would suggest doing what i do sometimes and split the knightwich with a fellow student. this gives you a way to enjoy the delicious knightwich without the after-effects of uncomfortable pangs of overindulgence.
