1. Golden Globes
On Sunday, January 10, the 73rd annual Golden Globes were held, with British star Ricky Gervais as the host for the fourth time. Between the cringing jabs and the long, long speeches, these Globes were overall pretty relaxed.

2. State of the Union Address

President Barack Obama delivered his final State of the Union address on Tuesday, January 12. He outlined what his plans are for the remainder of his presidency, and what he hopes to see in America during and after his presidency.

3. Ebola gone from West Africa
West Africa-for now- is being considered Ebola free, having gone 42 days case free. However, the country is still at risk for small reoccurrences.

4. Alan Rickman and David Bowie Pass Away
On Sunday, January 10, the world lost David Bowie, a famous British singer and actor. The unfortunate loss of Alan Rickman, another famous British actor, occurred Thursday, January 14. Both passed away from cancer.

5. Americans freed from Iran
On Saturday, January 16, five Americans seven Iranians will be given back to the US in a miraculous swap. American officials are hoping this will keep the nuclear talk from Iran to a minimum.
