LANSDALE – Over 600 students in fourth through 12th grade will perform in the fourth annual North Penn School District Choral Showcase on Thursday, January 16.
The festival showcases choirs from thirteen North Penn schools: Bridle Path Elementary School Select Chorus led by Mr. Michael Klenk, Gwynedd Square Elementary School Select Chorus led by Mrs. Jill Swavely, Gwyn-Nor Elementary School Chorus led by Anthony Mancuso, Hatfield Elementary School Chorus led by Mrs. Jacqui Ziegler, Knapp Elementary School Chorus led by Mrs. Vikki Callan, Montgomery Elementary School Chorus led by Ms. Melite Scherzinger, Nash Elementary School Chorus led by Mrs. Lisa Landley, North Wales Elementary School Select Choir led by Mrs. Tracy Calvaresi, York Avenue Elementary School Chorus led by Ms. Lori Weidner, Pennbrook Middle School Vocal Ensemble led by Mrs. Katie Campbell, Pennfield Middle School Vocal Ensemble led by Mrs. Gloria Riley, Penndale Middle School Jazz Choir led by Ms. Laura Smith and North Penn High School Men’s and Women’s Choirs led by Mr. Matthew Klenk.
This is the fourth year for the North Penn School District Choral Showcase. It is the directors’ goal to expose different ages of singers and their parents to the high-quality choral opportunities from across the district.
Each choir will perform a few selections from their winter concert concluding with an uplifting finale of “Let There Be Peace On Earth” sung by all 625 singers. This year, the program includes selections of Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn, jazz standards, Russian folk songs, Hebrew texts, tongue-in-cheek texts, and lots of other winter musical delights.
The showcase will be held at North Penn School District on Thursday, January 16 at 7 p.m. North Penn School District is located at 1340 Valley Forge Road in Lansdale, PA. Admission is free.
