Steven Kendikian, junior at NPHS, gives a friendly kiss to Olivia Kriwasch. With a positive attitude and smile on his face, Kendikian walks the halls of NPHS brightening his peers’ day.

If a student is ever in need a shoulder to cry on, junior Steven Kendikian is sure to be by their side. Kendikian is always full of smiles as he walks down the hallways of North Penn High School, greeting his peers. However, Kendikian wasn’t alway content with life. He dealt with serious depression from 6th to 8th grade until he learned that life has so many great things to offer.

Kendikian was constantly troubled with thoughts of being overweight and confusion with his sexuality, but he overcame his difficulties to realize what an amazing person he truly is. Kendikian has blossomed in his high school habitat, as he has countless friends and tries to share his happiness with his peers.

Even when someone is feeling down, Kendikian always makes an effort to cheer that person up.

“When other people are sad, it makes me sad,” stated Kendikian. “I want to be there for them, whether they need a shoulder to cry on, someone to listen to them, or someone to take them out and have a fun day.”

How does Kendikian stay so positive? Like many teenagers, sleep is valued to him, so he gets an ample amount of rest everyday. Kendikian also tries to look at things more positively, gearing his emotions toward an optimistic outlook to avoid having negative feelings.

What’s most important to him is that he sees his friends and family everyday.

“I’m lucky to have a family supportive of me, because I know not everyone can have that,” said Kendikian, smiling.

Some students avoid extra time spent at school, but the cheery eyed junior adores staying after the last bell. He believes it’s important to be involved in extracurricular activities, because one never knows how it can affect their life. For Kendikian, he feels accomplished because he is involved in Men’s Choir, Chamber Singers, North Penn Theatre, Thespian Troupe #5464, SALSA club, and Spanish Honors Society.

In Kendikian’s eyes, it’s important to always stay positive. Emotions can be blinding, so if you just look forward to what life throws at you, you’ll have an amazing journey.

“Do whatever you love to do, as long as you’re productive, do it,” stated Kendikian.
