The planning process for the event is extensive and begins months in advance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMulticultural Night is really kind of like a six-month plan\u2026we actually started planning before the end of last school year,\u201d Adviser and Social Studies teacher, Mr. Brendon Mostert, said. He explained that student leaders and club representatives are identified early so they can begin spreading the word and organizing performances.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u201cAs soon as club leadership is identified, we begin getting word out about what we want and how to put the show together,\u201d Mostert explained.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year\u2019s Multicultural Night will represent a wide range of cultures across food, performances, and the fashion show.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<aside>\n    <div id='video2460' class='videowidget sno-6a4d6cbc74651'>\n        <div class='embedcontainer'><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1oOkwk_fhtsyJ3HO21A1VgdtlsS09TRjY\/preview\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n                    <div class=\"embed-credit\"><p class=\"videocredit inline-video\">Electra Triantaffylos <\/p><\/div>\n                            <div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n            <div class=\"embed-caption\">Multicultural Night takes over NPHS on Friday night, January 30th. Student performers are ready to go!<\/div>\n            <\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<style>\n.sno-6a4d6cbc74651 {\n\tfloat: left; margin: 30px 30px 30px 0px;}\n<\/style>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe have nine different cultures doing food, about twenty different dances or performances, and probably twelve to fifteen cultures represented through performances,\u201d Mr. Mostert expressed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, the fashion show will highlight even more backgrounds. \u201cWe have another ten cultures represented just in the fashion show,\u201d Mostert added. A lot of students are expected to participate throughout the whole night. \u201cWe probably have about fifty people performing either in the show or the fashion show,\u201d Mostert stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Food is one of the most popular attractions of the event, drawing large crowds to the auxiliary gym.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOne of the people\u2019s favorite parts is the food stands from cultures around the world, with each culture having their own menu items,\u201d Mostert noted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While previous events included activities such as henna and games, the focus has shifted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cPeople really want to see the performances and get food, so that\u2019s what we focus on now,\u201d Mostert said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event itself lasts several hours and is carefully scheduled to keep the night engaging.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe event tends to be about a three-hour performance with a thirty-minute intermission in the middle,\u201d Mostert said. He noted that attendees should arrive early to experience the full event.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cPeople can arrive around six o\u2019clock and see great performances up until about nine o\u2019clock at night,\u201d Mostert said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the most anticipated moments of the night is the fashion show, which features traditional cultural clothing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe fashion show will feature cultural clothing from all over the world.\u201d Mostert said. It will take place immediately after intermission and last about fifteen minutes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe fashion show runs from about 7:45 to 8:00 pm, and then the second half of performances begins,\u201d Mostert explained.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Each year brings something new depending on the student participation. \u201cMulticultural Night ends up being very different every year, depending on which cultures the student body represents,\u201d Mr. Mostert said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the fourth annual Multicultural Night, the event continues to grow in size and impact. \u201cEvery year, more people recognize that it\u2019s happening,\u201d Mostert reflected.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He shared his excitement for this year\u2019s performances, especially the opening act and a unique cultural fusion performance. \u201cWe\u2019re kicking it off with an Indigenous South American keyboard performance, and we also have a group of young women blending African cultures with K-pop, which is really high energy,\u201d Mostert exclaimed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through music, movement, and tradition, Multicultural Night proves that diversity is beautiful because it turns individuality into unity and strangers into community.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Multicultural Night, set for tonight, January 30,\u00a0 is one of the most anticipated events of the school year, bringing students and families together to celebrate diversity through performances, food, and fashion.
