I went with high expectations since you can almost always depend on a good fry from there, but, unfortunately, I was disappointed. However, let’s start with the positives. The fries were very warm which was good because no one likes a cold fry. Yet despite that, the fries had little to no crunch. They weren’t soggy, but I still wished there was more texture to the fries. Additionally, there was a lack of salt, and therefore taste. Lastly, the fry felt more like a strip of fried oil than potato. The fries definitely could have been cut thicker; you almost needed to eat multiple at a time. Overall, I gave it a 5.1/10.

Freddy’s

I also tried Freddy’s fries. The taste of these fries was amazing. They were very garlicky and seasoned. However, just with Mcdonald’s, the fries were not crispy and very very thin. They were even smaller and thinner than Mcdonald’s. It got to the point where it felt they you were eating air. You 100% had to have more than one fries at a time. The flavor made up tremendously for this, making the fries rank a 7.2/10.

Cane’s

Especially with the excitement of the Cane’s shortly opening up across Airport Square in February, it felt only right to rank their fries. Their specialty fries consist of a golden crinkle fry that is most frequently enjoyed alongside their iconic ‘Cane’s sauce’. For a typical fry, crinkle cut is usually the hardest to get right flavor-wise. Usually, they come out undercooked and bland. However, I don’t believe that is always true for Cane’s. While I wouldn’t say they were top-tier, they had a decent crunch and were considerably salted as the salt lay in the groves of the fry. After trying it alone, I gave it a try with the Cane’s sauce which only enhanced the flavor (and made them better), capturing that late-night comfort of fast food. I’d give Cane’s fries a solid 6.5/10!

Wendy’s

Wendy’s fries are definitely not a fry I would gravitate towards compared to the others. While the fry itself was perfectly golden with both a crunch yet the satisfying softness of the potato, it lacked the piquancy that the best fries acquire. I found the lack of salt leaving a bland and unforgiving mood as I hoped for the comfort of a fry. Along with this, Wendy’s chooses to leave the potato skins on their fries. To me, this is definitely unique and I am still unsure how to feel about it as it left the fry feeling overwhelmingly chewy. So with all that being said, I rate the Wendy’s fries a 4/10.

Burger King

An unlikely restaurant pleased me the most when taste testing fries: Burger King.
