This test challenges them to not purchase any new products and to finish what they have in their collection.

This project has revealed the mass amount of products that influencers stockpile. From lipgloss to shampoo, they have it all and they are not using them. So now they are challenging themselves to stop adding to their expensive supply and start decluttering.

Doing this is different than just finishing a product because it is consciously deciding to finish the merchandise before purchasing anything similar while using it.

Content published by influencers has also inspired others to also take on this challenge. Additionally, over-consumerism has been a major issue in the media. It’s a disease that has plagued many Americans and causes them to only feel satisfaction if they buy and own things that often aren’t necessary. So this test combats the over-consumerist nature of the media.

This project can also bring to light how having a collection of beauty products can be harmful. More often than not, these products just sit in drawers and aren’t being consistently used (because how can you use 50 lip glosses at the same time) and then become incredibly out of date/expired. Expired products, especially eye products, can really damage peoples skin.

When looking at influencers directly and their reasoning why they personally took on this challenge, many of them are aware of their over-consumerist tendencies. So the average person owns 8 times more makeup than they use. This insane statistic shows how necessary Project Pan is.

Many people make new year’s resolutions at the start of a new year. However, with starting 2025 people should consider joining Project Pan to lessen their over-consumerist nature in health and beauty.

With the start of 2025, many influencers have taken it upon themselves to start Project Pan.
