Keeping up with the Obamas

About five months have passed since Barack Obama and his family departed Pennsylvania Avenue for the next chapter in their lives, and in America’s. Here is a brief synopsis of what’s been going on with America’s former first family.

After the end of Obama’s presidency, he and his family moved from his life at the White House into a 5.3 million dollar mansion in Washington. Obama’s net worth of course surged after his presidency, and with his newly found money, ex-president Obama decided to relax and spend quality time with his family. The Obamas were vacationing away in Palm Springs the day before Trump’s inauguration for quality time with each other and reflection. They stayed at Thunderbird Heights and often visited the former U.S Ambassador to Spain. Obama, staying away from the issues and watching from the sidelines, is taking a break from politics and using his time to relax. After their vacation from the Palm Springs, they boarded a private jet to the Virgin Islands. Their stay was short and sweet, but well deserved for many hardworking years during his presidency.

Obama is working on his memoirs and should be getting a book deal said to be worth approximately $60 million. As an ex-president, he is also earning his money through a pension of $200,000 annually. His pension fee was twice the amount that former president Bush received for his speeches.

Also on May 3rd, Obama announced that he will donate $2 million to summer jobs for Chicago.

“We don’t want to wait for a building. One of the things that we will be starting this year is Michelle and I personally are going to donate $2 million to our summer jobs programs here in the community, so that right away, young people can get to work and we can start providing opportunities to all of them,” stated Obama in an interview with Ryan Seacrest.

Although Obama’s term ended, he still wants to help communities and support many American citizens. Obama will still be working in business and helping and supporting young people.
