Simple Smiles: Carly Zimmerman

So many faces around North Penn, so many personalities, and so many unique individuals. Each unique individual holds his or her own story and  own experiences. But as an individual goes through life it’s important to maintain positivity and remember at the end of the day everything is going to be alright.

Senior Carly Zimmerman is the epitome of North Penn’s spirit and pride. Once the bell rings, Zimmerman can be found participating in many after school activities like Best Buddies, Special Olympics and managing the Lady Knights basketball team.

“I love being involved with these activities because I’m really helping out and love seeing people smile after I help them. I think being involved with school activities is a great way to meet new people and better your people skills,” said Zimmerman.

Beyond the walls of North Penn, Zimmerman is an active member of the community.

“I love to cook and help people out in the community and watch my brother’s baseball games. Being involved with my family and being in school activities makes me genuinely happy so I would definitely recommend a way to stay positive is being more involved with your family and community,” shared Zimmerman.

But staying positive everyday isn’t always easy; it is something that Zimmerman constantly works at.

“I try to see the people I love everyday and always stay in contact with them, like my friends and family because they make me who I am and influence me to stay happy everyday. The person in my life who influenced me the most was my grandfather; he passed away when I was very young, and from that experience I’ve learned to stay positive everyday because my grandfather showed me when times are hard stay positive,” shared Zimmerman.

After learning how to remain optimistic and upbeat herself, Zimmerman also learned how to help others when times are rough.

“I start by telling them that everything is going to be okay-  to look at things with a different point of view…and that in the end everything will work out and you’ll feel better about the situation,” said Zimmerman.

Zimmerman’s life experiences have played a role in shaping the woman she is today. Constantly, Zimmerman focuses on self improvement. As she betters herself, she unconsciously betters the community around her.
