Now on display in the North Penn High School auditorium lobby is a thorough collection of the future plans of the graduating class of 2015. The annual display marks the imminent end of another school year, and for the senior class the commencement of all to come after high school.

North Penn High School will hold its commencement ceremony Thursday, June 11th in Crawford Stadium at 6pm. Prior to graduation seniors will also have a chance to reflect back on their years at North Penn in the annual Reflections ceremony to beheld Wednesday, June 11th in the auditorium at 7pm. In a more casual atmosphere, seniors can sign yearbooks and congregate together in the AEF courtyard one last time this Friday, June 5th at the Senior Barbeque.

As final exams, locker cleanouts, yearbook signings, and awards ceremonies mark this final week of secondary education for the Class of 2015, there is certainly no shortage of reflection back on what has been another action packed and productive school year in the North Penn School District. The senior members of the Knight Crier staff would like to take this time to offer their own reflections as they finish out their careers as high school journalists.

I am able to say with conviction that I could not have imagined a better three years at North Penn High School. This place that I have called home for so long has shaped me into a person I never truly thought I could be, and if it weren’t for such a heathy and friendly community, it’s safe to say that my life would be very different.

My decision to write for the Knight Crier has been one of the most rewarding decisions I have ever made. Having the ability to express myself in words for the entire world to see is something very special. Thanks to the help from Mr. Manero and staff members from this year and years past, I am proud to say that I will be pursuing a career in the writing field.

To the teachers, administrators, custodians, security, and counselors, thank you for giving me the opportunity and tools to excel. To my friends, I give you my utmost gratitude. You have and always will be a part of who I am. And lastly, to my fellow classmates, I offer you a wise man’s insight. Yogi Berra once said, “If you come to a fork in the road, take it.” Take whatever life throws at you and run with it. Your future is only what you make of it. And so I urge you to live fearlessly, take chances, love often and lots, dream endlessly, seize all of your days, and most importantly, never forget where you came from.

This has been Dan Sardaro from the Knight Crier Update, signing off.

Senior year is full of goodbyes. From the teacher who made calculus bearable, to the best friends we know we’ll keep in touch with, despite hundreds of miles, to the friends we only wish we had met in sophomore year, not one of the people who was a part of our high school experience is going to be an easy farewell. None of us can forget all the little things that have shaped our high school years: the halls of North Penn through which we walked as both backpack-touting sophomores and tassel-wearing seniors, the sports teams where we found our strengths and learned to be team players, and the sense of North Penn pride that has brought us together as a family over the years. No matter where we go in life, it would be impossible to forget the years we spent as classmates, teammates, and friends, and all I can say is thank you to every person and every part of life at North Penn that has made those years possible. I have truly grown over my time at North Penn and learned so much more than just biology or history. After everything my school has had to offer me, from my wonderful experience being an editor of the Knight Crier, to the clubs, teams, and organizations I’ve either been fortunate enough to participate in or simply cheered on from the sidelines, I know I’ll miss it here – we all will. But as we embark on the road to an exciting new beginning, we’ll know that our time at North Penn has prepared us for any challenges that may come our way, and we’ll look back and remember that we are Knights forever.

Breaking down the walls of high school is a huge hurdle to surpass on the way to adulthood, and with my own graduation day around the corner, a moment of reflection over the last year is needed. I remember sitting in Mrs. McCreary’s office last year the day of the deadline to submit my senior year schedule. I remember having one last class spot to fill, and no idea what I really wanted to do. I eyed up Knight Crier, and asked if I could apply for that. She said I could, but she would have to get a response back from Mr. Manero before the end of the day. She emailed him my request, turned around and started to say “Now, I don’t know if you’ll get in, but…” and then a return email arrived saying I was in. The next day, following finals, Manero pulled me aside and asked if I was actually going to contribute to the KC, and I said of course I would. That small moment of doubt fueled this year, and the rest is history. I owe it to him for giving me such an awesome opportunity this year, and I’d like to thank everyone on the KC staff for making it enjoyable. Don’t be afraid to pursue something you care about, if you approach it with the proper amount of passion it will always work out.

For essentially my entire life I have been a student in the North Penn School District. Knowing that I will soon be leaving the very place that has made up so much of my identity for so long is a very strange feeling. I’ll miss seeing many of the faces that I see on a daily basis and the teachers who helped me excel. As we all move on to bigger and better things, we can’t forget where we came from. Thank you North Penn for helping make me who I am today.

I have always enjoyed writing, but it wasn’t until I signed up for News Journalism, Knight Crier class that my hobby became a passion. Knight Crier became a nice home to express my love for writing. Becoming a staff writer was one of the best decisions I made throughout my high school career. Every morning I walk in K24 knowing that I will be entering my favorite class of the day. If it wasn’t for my amazing fellow staff writers, I don’t know if Knight Crier would be as enjoyable. I have made long lasting friendships and memories with everyone in the class.  The opportunities that Knight Crier has given me are incredible. I could not be more grateful to be a part of a wonderful group of people. Although I had to sign up and take Knight Crier as a class, it did not feel like a regular class. I enjoyed doing my homework and putting in the extra effort to write more articles. As I head into the next journey of my life at West Chester University, I will never forget all the articles I wrote, the people I interviewed, and the memories that were created along the way.

Sincerely,

Siena

My time here at the Knight Crier has really shown me what I want study in college, and that I want to pursue a career in journalism. Covering the different North Penn sporting events has taught me so much about how to write for a publication, and I have the Knight Crier to thank for that.

Joining Knight Crier my senior year was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. By becoming a part of the staff, I gained a great deal of experience by writing weekly articles about current news events, NPHS students and faculty, and anything that sparked my opinion. However, the course would not have been as memorable as it was without our great leader, Mr. Manero. As the site’s main editor, he really had a huge impact on how much I enjoyed the class. By being involved with such a prestigious and successful news site, I feel like I am ready to head to Temple University and take my major of Media and Communication Studies head on, all thanks to the help of Mr. Manero and the rest of my fellow Knight Crier writers.

This year was my first year on the Knight Crier staff, but writing for the paper has quickly become one of my favorite things about being at North Penn. From writing my “Fabbylous” fashion column to covering some of most fun events at North Penn, to getting to interview some of the most talented and interesting people in the school, I have truly enjoyed my time with the Knight Crier. While I will certainly miss the sweet smell of donuts on Wednesday mornings mixed with the sounds of old 80’s classics, I know the knowledge I have gained will serve me well as I pursue a communications career at Wake Forest University next fall! Thanks so much to everyone that has supported me and  the Knight Crier family, this year was a blast!

For most, walking into the doors of your high school on your first day of senior year is bittersweet, yet exciting. For me, however, it was terrifying, for walking through the doorways of North Penn High School on the first day of my own senior year was my first time walking into the high school. Apparently, my backpack was too big for a senior, and students didn’t “one-strap” their bags here (which was the only way to wear your backpack at my old school). I was a senior taking a sophomore swimming class and a junior health class. Coming from a private school, I had to learn to wear something besides a uniform everyday (this was a struggle). However, even though North Penn is about six times bigger than my old school, the staff and students have created a loving, welcoming environment that has undoubtedly shaped me into who I am today.

Beyond learning from the textbooks, my classes and teachers have taught me valuable life lessons. Writing for the Knight Crier has given me a voice for everyone to hear, and it has taught me about the world outside of high school, outside of my town, and most importantly outside of my country. The unbreakable, laugh-until-you-cry relationships I have developed here at North Penn will continue even though we are all going our separate ways next year. As we say farewell, I wish good luck to my fellow staff writers and all of the people who have made this year such an amazing experience for me.
