TOWAMENCIN – This past Friday afternoon, students and teachers gathered inside North Penn’s gym for the annual Homecoming pep rally. North Penn’s 2016 Class Cabinet stepped it up this year with a new theme, black light.

Class cabinet secretary, Lauren Purcell felt “it realty went well, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves this year in comparison to other years.”

Before the lights were officially put out the cheerleaders pumped up the crowd by performing a new cheer they put together in about a week. Senior captain Melany Mazaleski said “With only having practiced a few times we were all a little nervous, but we knew we could pump the crowd up! The whole crowd was already pretty excited so getting them hype was pretty easy.”

Senior Captain Hannah Marks also commented saying “although getting everyone pumped for the game is always fun, it was bitter sweet for us seniors because it was our last time performing at the pep rally.”

After lights went out, everyone began to glow, and then the North Penn drum line started off the black light festivities by playing strong music to energize the crowd for the rest of the pep rally.

Once the crowd was fired up, the homecoming court was introduced for the last time before the big half time crowning that evening. All fourteen court members performed a new dance in front of the wild crowd.

Court member and senior football player Chris Jeffries said “It was swaggin! It was so much fun and an amazing experience. I felt like I was on dancing with the stars.”

Not only was there a dance performance from the homecoming court, the North Penn dance team performed a brand new routine. Glowing while dancing to a series of mashed up songs, the girls on the dance team rallied up the crowd with their vigorous dance moves.

This performance was followed by a routine performed by North Penn’s JROTC drill team. The team livened up their performance by attaching glowing tape and lights to their props and clothing.

As part of the finale, senior football captain, Keith Earle gave a speech asking the students to come out to support the team on homecoming. He finished out his speech with the well-known “knight time” cheer, trying to get the crowd even more pumped for the game.

To finish the pep rally off, before the lights came back on, the dance team, cheerleaders, homecoming court and class cabinet all danced along to “the whip” as one last attempt to get the students excited for the rest of their Friday night.
