No dresses, no flowers, and no dates are needed to attend SGA’s third annual Knight Glo informal dance.  On Friday, March 6th at 7 p.m., the gymnasium lights will dim, turning the basketball court into a dance floor. Blacklights, glow sticks, and electrifying music will brighten the night and will make everyone glow! Knight Glo tickets can be purchased during all lunches for $5 and at the door for $7. All proceeds are going to United Way, a local charity that helps families in need. As North Penn students get in line to purchase tickets, SGA has been working hard for the past several weeks to make this year’s Knight Glo the best yet.

“Knight Glo is an ever-changing event, meaning that we always take the comments from the previous year to try and make it better. This year we planned it earlier [in the year] so it would be darker and ordered more black lights so everyone will glow more,” said SGA President Robert Gaibler.

To really get glowing at Knight Glo, SGA suggests that students wear either white or neon colors and bring their own glow sticks in addition to those provided. There will be glow paint sold at the door to add more glow to your outfit. Knight Glo is an event that is open to only North Penn students, and student IDs must be presented at the door in order to attend.

SGA Co-Adviser Mr. Kyle Berger commented, “Knight Glo is a fun time, it really is, and it’s something you have to experience.  I have had the chance to be in the balcony overlooking the gym looking out across the whole dance, and it just looks so cool with the 500-plus people there, all lit up in their glow bracelets. It’s a good chance to go out and have a good time. It’s not expensive at all; it’s $5, and it’s going to charity.”

As well as Knight Glo being a charity dance, it is also a fun night to let loose with your friends and experience fun music.  DJ Shane McElwain will be playing a wide variety of songs at the dance. He has been the DJ for the past three Knight Glo dances, as well as at the Homecoming dance in October.

“I plan to play a wide variety of EDM, Rap, and Top 40 hits, and I’m most looking forward to being able to play some of my own remixes for the first time in public, too,” said McElwain.

This school-appropriate rave is one of the few times that North Penn has an informal dance, meaning no long dresses or boutonnières or corsages. Knight Glo is all about having a good time and raising as much money as possible for United Way.

Berger said it best: “It’s the most fun you can have for $5 on a Friday night in Lansdale.”
