PHILADELPHIA – On Sunday October 19th , the North Penn High School Thespian Troupe traveled to Philadelphia to participate in the annual Philly AIDS Walk. The walk began at 9:00 AM on Sunday morning in front of the Philadelphia Art Museum. Troupe members showed their support for the fight against the AIDS epidemic by walking in the 5K walk as well as collecting and donating a total of $1,318.55 towards the cause.

Troupe member, Treasurer, and costume shop manager of NPHS Thespians, Victoria Finley, said the event was “very informative” and “eye opening” in regards to the AIDS epidemic.

“ I think this event is important because many people do not realize that AIDS is very relevant right here, where we live. A lot of people associate AIDS with a far off place, but it is actually closer to home then one might realize,” explained Finley.
NPHS Thespian Alumni also joined in on the event, getting together their own group and participating in the walk. NPHS Thespian Alumni and former Costume Shop Coordinator and Manager, Sarah Wittman, said it was “great to feel a sense of community again with the troupe as well as contribute to a great cause”.

The North Penn High School Thespians will continue to raise money this year for the fight against AIDS with their fundraising for Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS Partnership.
