In a 3-0 victory on their Senior Night, the North Penn Men’s Soccer Team beat the Pennridge Rams, scoring the Continental Conference Championship title.

TOWAMENCIN- After they graduated a considerable number of seniors, the word on the street was that this year would be a “building year” for the North Penn Men’s Soccer Team. However, after a few games it was clear that the soccer team wasn’t building anything; in fact, they were destroying their conference. In a 3-0 victory on their Senior Night, the Knights (9-3) beat the Pennridge Rams (1-10-1) to win the Continental Conference Championship.

North Penn set the tone with an early lead against the Rams with a quick goal by senior Noah Kwortnik (38:00). Shortly after, senior Nate Baxter kicked in another goal for the Knights putting them ahead 2-0 (31:33).

“I think getting a goal two minutes into the game just changes the whole momentum. Then, with the other goal we were up 2-0 in the first ten minutes, which made the game easier to manage from the start,” said Head Coach Paul Duddy.

Seniors Nick Terchek and Mike Kohler, and sophomore Christian Snyder were standout players in the first half, keeping possession and making the right passes. Senior Bobby Dean took command as goal keeper by not allowing any goals all night.

“We moved the ball and possessed a lot; Pennridge played well, but we scored the goals we needed to score to get it done,” said Dean.

In the second half, the Knights took the field with the same amount of intensity that they had started with. It took senior Kevin Seipt only 50 seconds to score, extending North Penn’s lead 3-0.

Senior goalkeeper Tyler Rothman entered the game during the second half and continued the North Penn shut out. The game ended with the Knights winning 3-0 and being named Continental Conference Champions.

“We are going to keep practicing like we have been. We started in the summer and we haven’t stopped our momentum all year,” said Snyder.

“I’m really happy for our seniors, they have worked so hard in our program, and I’m glad they earned this win,” said Duddy.
