Extending their record to 4-0, the North Penn Knights defeated Central Bucks West with a score of 48-20 on Friday night’s game at Crawford Stadium.

LANSDALE- Crawford Stadium was packed with both home and away fans, as the supporters from each school hoped to watch their teams remain unbeaten. However, it was the North Penn Knights who defeated Central Bucks West 48-20, extending their record to 4-0 and handing the Bucks their first loss of 2016.

The Knights were the first on the scoreboard after quarterback Reece Udinski connected with Anthony Andrews, who ran a 50-yard touchdown. Kelly MacNamara kicked the extra point, and the Knights led 7-0.

A pass from Udinski to Ricky Johns resulted in a 57-yard touchdown for the Knights, who were leading 14-0 in the first quarter.

The Bucks tried to answer as running back TJ Rakowsky intercepted a pass from Udinski at North Penn’s 30-yard line. The Knight’s defense came out aggressively, and within 4 plays the Bucks had lost 9 yards.

In the second quarter, Nick Dillon was able to find a hole to run 4 yards, giving North Penn their third touchdown, which was followed by MacNamara’s extra point. The Bucks then had a 17 yard return on MacNamara’s kick, but they were unable to capitalize on the field and were forced to punt on their fourth down.

At the end of the second quarter, a 9 yard pass from Udinski to Johns in the end zone put the Knights up 28-0 at halftime.

Udinski started off the third quarter with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Johns, putting into effect the mercy rule. With the clock running, the Bucks were not able to score until the fourth quarter, as 8 plays took them 72 yards and into the end zone. The first touchdown of the night for the Bucks was scored by tight end Ryan Bradley.

Almost immediately following, North Penn’s Xzavier Gorski rushed 53 yards for the Knights’ sixth touchdown. The extra point was incomplete, and the Knights were up 41-7.

After they earned 57 yards on 10 plays, CB West’s Luka Munari scored a touchdown. Munari’s touchdown made the score 41-14, but it quickly changed as North Penn’s David Riccardi made a 77-yard touchdown on the Knights’ first down.

Riccardi’s 77-yard touchdown was answered by a 70-yard touchdown from Munari, who gained his second touchdown of the night.

The game ended with the Knights ahead 48-20, extending their undefeated record to 4-0.

Rushing 87 yards, Dillon was a key player for the Knights, and Johns and Andrews were also standout players, both running 66 yards.

After the game, Andrews explained his pleasure with the way he and his team played.

“It was my first varsity start, and as a team, we put up 48 on them; that’s really good,” stated Andrews.

The Knights look to play rival Pennridge next Friday for their annual homecoming game. With the excitement of homecoming in the air, the Knights know what they need to do during practice next week in order to prepare.

“We are going to practice hard every day and stay focused”, said Dillon.

Coach Beck was pleased with the intense start to the game, which the Knights have been seeing recently. As Beck prepares for the homecoming game, he knows one thing is for sure; he is voting Ben Hartranft for homecoming king.
