TOWAMENCIN – Clashing head-to-head with the number one team in the state, the North Penn Boys’ Soccer team (7-2-2) suffered a 1-0 loss against CB East (13-0-0). The Knights scratched and clawed, staying focused and active the entire match, but one fatal mistake ultimately cost them the match.

Bobbing and weaving into North Penn’s box, the CB East striker drew the foul and earned the penalty twenty minutes into the second half. The striker stepped up and calmly smashed the ball down the middle, putting the visitors up 1-0.

“The PK looked legit to me,” stated Coach Paul Duddy. “He was just inside the eighteen, and if you give him a chance (he will find his way).”

Coming into the game, the Knights were on high alert. Losing their last match up in heartbreaking overtime defeat against their opponent, the team had an aura of vengeance.

“We had a vengeful mindset,” claimed senior midfielder Owen Nakatani. “We felt like we deserved this one, but things just did not go our way.”

Despite the loss, North Penn was able to keep their heads high. Their constant pressure and omnipresent energy all over the field earned them many chances, putting CB East on their heel throughout the match.

“I thought we played well,” commented senior midfielder Colin Jerome, “we won the ball most of the game, but we just couldn’t finish.”

Their failure to put the ball in the back of the net eventually came back to haunt them, despite another strong effort from defense. Many dangerous balls were slashed across the opponents’ box, yet no one was there at the end to ruffle the net.

“(We just lacked) the nose to be see it coming and anticipate the chance coming,” lamented Coach Duddy, “their keeper played well too.”

The Knights celebrate their seniors against Quakertown Thursday, October 8th, at 7:00pm.
