After kicking his way into Kutztown University, Class of 2000 North Penn grad Jonathan Corson put together an impressive punting resume with the Golden Bears. He now finds his name on the ballot for the All Time Kutztown University football team. He joins a list of nominees that include several former NFL players, including Buffalo Bills standout Andre Reed.

Corson, nominated as a punter, is one of four punters vying for all-time status. His career accolades are numerous and impressive. Corson’s resume includes the following: 2001 All-PSAC East Second Team, 2002 All-PSAC East Second Team, 2003 All-PSAC East First Team, School Record 43.02 Punting Average in a Season (2003), School Record 8,868 Punting Yards in Career (2000-03), School Record 79-yard Punt (2003).

According to the Kutztown athletics website, 2015 marks the 100th year of Kutztown football and a total of 30 players will be named to the all-time team. In addition to Corson, 1998 Lansdale Catholic graduate Mike de Marteleire is also among the nominees at the quarterback position. de Marteleire’s resume is equally impressive: 2000 PSAC Player of the Year, 2000 All-PSAC East First Team, 1999 All-PSAC East Second Team, 1998 PSAC Rookie of the Year.

The North Penn connection extends to both Corson and de Marteleire in another way as well. Both Kuztown grads have parents who  currently work in the North Penn School District. Larry Corson, Jon’s father, is a middle school teacher at Penndale Middle School (https://www.knightcrier.org/top-stories/2013/01/23/checking-in-with-mr-larry-corson-the-art-the-science-and-the-passion-of-teaching/)  and Maggie de Marteleire, Mike’s mother,  is a secretary at North Penn High School and is the Lady Knights head basketball coach.
