TOWAMENCIN- The North Penn School District Board of School Directors met for a special action meeting on Tuesday, April 4th.

The Board approved all of the items on the Superintendent’s Report, including three multipurpose room contracts for Oak Park Elementary School. The Board approved the award of a contract for General Construction to Walter Brucker & Co. in the amount of $147,500.00, the award of a contract for HVAC Construction to Myco mechanical, Inc. in the amount of $296,800.00, and the award of a contract for Electrical Construction to AN Lynch Co. in the amount of $79,350.00.

The Board also approved three bids for chromebooks and awarded the bid to Trinity 3 Technology for the amount of $188,500.00. In addition, the Board approved contracts to Siteimprove in the amount of $10,400.00 for ADH Compliance Monitoring, Karen Fallows in the maximum amount of $400.00 for piano accompanist services at General Nash Elementary School, and Nor-Gwyn Pool Commission for $4,950.00 for 55 hours for North Penn Community Squatics/North Penn Aquatic Club-Pool Rental for June 12th through July 31st 2017.

In other business, Mr. Edward Diasio stated he had a couple parents contact him over the past few weeks following the snowstorm who were wondering if the Board would give any consideration to building in some snow days to the calendar. The ECP committee has agreed to discuss and take a look at the issue.

“It’s a very interesting conversation regarding whether a snow day is built in or not. It’s a little complicated because of professional development and the need to plan, but there are different ways to do it. The way we do it is not the only way it can be done, so we can certainly have that discussion,” commented Dr. Curt Dietrich, Superintendent of NPHS.

The Board will sort through and move around items on the agendas for May and June in order to get the discussion on the agenda for either of those two months. The next Board of School Directors meeting is an action meeting scheduled for April 20th at 7:30 P.M. at the Educational Services Center.
