TOWAMENCIN-Tuesday nights mean one thing for North Penn students: wing night. At the local P.J. Whelihan’s, NP students will wait upwards of an hour and fifteen minutes for mediocre half price wings and crab fries.

So naturally, the SGA decided that in that there was a competition to be had, and Wing Bowl was born.

On Friday, “The Administration” took to the senior cafe to defend their 2015 Wing Bowl title. The defending champs were a fearsome force to be reckoned with last year and were heavily favored to take home the title again this year.

However The North Penn boys aquatic team didn’t get the memo.

“Thy Wingdom Come” as they called themselves made short work of the competition as well as their wings in the first round with a simple strategy, as team leader Corey Smith told me- “Eat your wings. Fast.”

An administration member who wished to remain anonymous had one word to describe their performance-”bad.”

In the championship round the menacing wing warriors clad in orange went down to the wire with “Hotline Wings” and a finish too close to call prompted the first ever wing off.

In a hotly contested final which saw the top two eaters from each team cram their face with poultry, “Thy Wingdom Come” was able to edge out “Hotline Wings” and claim Wing Bowl glory.

Member of the winning team Corey Smith enlightened me with the secret to his success.

“Unlike most people who took the purging root to prepare for the final, I just did 100 push ups and 100 burpees to burn off the calories. And as you can see it worked.”

Overall the night was a huge success and fun for all.

“It was a great night overall for all of the teams,” SGA secretary and Wing Bowl judge Katie Swanson said. “Although it was a little disgusting at times.”

With the winning team predominantly made up of seniors, a new winner will no doubt be crowned next year at the 2017 Wing Bowl.
