TOWAMENCIN –  With a wide range of foreign language options for students to study at North Penn, it is little surprise that along with those courses of study, many students are also achieving new heights on the national level. Several North Penn High School students were recently honored for their outstanding achievements for this year’s National Japanese Exam.

Additionally, Georgi Eck was honored for receiving a prestigious grant award, the JET Memorial Invitation Program (MIP). The JET-MIP was created to honor two American teachers who lost their lives during the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster.   Eck was given the opportunity to visit Japan to participate in exchange with Japanese students, and act as symbolic bridges to enhance the goodwill between Japan and the United States.

This program is extremely competitive.  Ecks excellent academic standing,  95th percentile placement in the National Exam, an outstanding essay composition, and her exceptional performance in a Skype interview in Japanese led to the award of this scholarship.

Georgi will be leaving for Japan on July 5th.
