What does your committee do?
As the Entertainment committee, we plan the activities for the night such as the DJ, color wars, and Mr. MiniThon. We also create the schedule for the night and make sure that the transitions between events runs smoothly that night.
Why did you get involved with MiniThon?
I wanted to get involved with MiniThon because I think the idea behind a MiniThon is really unique and a great way to raise money for a cause like pediatric cancer. I’ve heard about other schools holding MiniThons and it seems to not only be a way to fundraise, but also a way to bring the school together.

PR and Social Media Committee

What does your committee do?
We run the Instagram account, are in charge of decorations, and pretty much mostly have to determine how many and what kinds of posters were to be made.
Why did you get involved with MiniThon?
I wanted to get involved with mini thon because I thought it was an amazing cause and I really wanted to give back to those kids who were going through so much.

Morale and Spirit Committee
Captains: Jane Kim, Madison Peyton (interviewed), Katie Swanson
Members: Eric Volz, Rachel Brynien, Harsh Boghara, Hyunjin Jang
What does your committee do?
Our committee’s main focus was creating the line dance. This dance is performed every hour of MiniThon and it gets everyone involved. We had to create a fun mix of songs and figure out some upbeat dance moves to go along. We also helped decorate posters and attended different fundraising meetings.
Why did you get involved with MiniThon?
I love dancing and being around people so I figured this was a great opportunity to do both. As soon as I heard about MiniThon, I knew I had to get involved. The whole process has been amazing and knowing that I can help that I can make a difference in just one child’s life is very moving.

What does your committee do?
We are responsible for contacting local establishments to obtain donations (food/monetary) and directing food preparation for the night of Mini-Thon.
Why did you get involved with MiniThon?
Obviously the main motivating force that encouraged me to participate in Mini-Thon is the message of THON itself. I want to make an impact on a child who suffers the horrible effects of cancer, and I want that child to be happy, unhindered by such a disease, so that he may live to see adulthood.

Special Events Committee
Captains: Mackenzie Daniels, Manel Ghorbal (interviewed), Siva Nuthanapati
Members: Fiyi Adebekun, Caroline Daniels, Alison Maxwell, Julia Puia, Yash Solanki, Sarah Shoulberg
What does your committee do?
The special events committee organizes all the events that happen before the actual mini-THON event. We have raised close to a thousand dollars from fundraisers.
Why did you get involved with MiniThon?
Personally, my mother had cancer when I was 6 years old, and that was a really tough thing for any child to go through. Mini-THON helps kids and their families make that experience a little easier. Although, we can’t know what everyone goes through because everyone has different experiences, small gestures can go a long way, and so raising thousands of dollars to help with cancer research or to make cancer bills and lift a huge strain from a family who is struggling to cope.
