Falling out of autumn and into winter

Caitlin Pennegar, Staff Writer

The nice breezy weather of fall, with a touch of pumpkin spice aroma permeating through the air is transitioning into the colder winter months with views of green Christmas trees and sparkling lights glistening through windows of little homes covered in white. Winter is almost here and there’s many things to look forward to.

Snow days

Staying home from school and snuggling up by the fire, and enjoying a hot cup of hot chocolate is a perfect way to spend a snow day. Going outside and building a snowman with your neighborhood friends; riding a sled down the deep hill and holding snow ball fights.

Going ice skating

Going to a local rink or pond and skating around with your friends and family. Falling continuously on your butt while laughing with your friends. Then after a cold skate, going to get a hot chocolate from the concession stand.

Making cookies

Baking your favorite kind of cookies, and decorating them with icing and sprinkles.  Making them for friends and family or giving them to your neighbors.

Winter festivals

Going to your local festivals in town, eating from different stands, drinking different warm beverages. Meeting up with your friends and family to enjoy the brisk cold weather.

Snow tubing

Getting into your big puffy and heavy snow gear and heading out to your local snow tubing place. Climbing the top of the mountain and jumping onto a huge tube and flying down a steep snowy hill.

Going to NYC

Getting onto your local train and heading to the big beautiful city of New York. Visiting Rockefeller Center and admiring all the lights and vast amount of people. Going into the Christmas shops and look at all the decorations. Maybe even go see The Rockettes in Times Square for their Christmas spectacular.

Having a fire pit

Going outside with a blanket and sitting by the warm fire while watching the cold snow hit the ground. Grabbing your friends and family and cuddling up close, then pulling out the marshmallows and graham crackers and making s’mores.
